The Fall
What did we lose at the Fall? Some say Heaven. Some say a life of ease. Some say unity, harmony, etc.
We lost dominion. We went from dominion of the Creation to wanting to dominate the created. Man was given dominion over the fish of the sea and fowl of the air, etc., but not over other human beings.
Man lost clarity. His worldview—His thought processes were corrupted in the Fall. Because he was separated from God, his ability to think God’s thoughts was also distorted. Man lost his reference point for Truth because now the world revolved around himself instead of his world revolving around God.
The Dialectic Process
The first use of the Dialectic Process was at the Fall. It is what Satan did to Eve in the Garden and is still the tactic of choice for deception around the world. The Dialectic is the process through which one is moved from a belief in absolute Truth to a belief in relativism.
It is to be contrasted with the Didactic. God’s method of reasoning is “Precept upon Precept, Truth upon Truth.”
Our culture has been lost through redefinition and it can be regained through the restoration of biblical thinking and reasoning through the use of biblical definitions.
What would make someone reject a “Father’s Knows Best” world for the modern world of chaos and uncertainty? For the same reason they would reject the Garden of Eden.
We are living in a culture that is so far from the concept of dominion that today there are many who claim the name of Christ who have bought into pluralism and/or syncretism to such a degree that they do not even believe Christians have a right to influence the world around them.
We have, on the other extreme, Christians who believe that politics is the only way to influence the world around them. Theirs is a more external-to-internal approach, and while it can at least keep the debate alive in the Public Square, it is limited in potential success because it does not address the heart issues without which there can be no lasting change. At least this group believes they should have a cultural voice.
Now that you know what the Dialectic Process is, you will become more aware of how semantics are used constantly to change the worldview of individuals and thus whole cultures. You can decide to either continue being processed on the conveyor belt of history or become a world changer for Christ by using God’s definitions. At all times you are either being influenced by your culture or being the influencer who is changing your culture. Which are you? The choice is yours.
